Critics Consensus

Me Before You benefits from Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin's alluring chemistry, although it isn't enough to compensate for its clumsy treatment of a sensitive subject.

Haifa C The story is very predictable. The only good thing about this film is just the actors lol Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review karis m I had no idea what I was signing myself up for. I can not believe we have come to a place where people are trying to normalize euthanasia. Sickening, sad, and Louisa said it best “selfish.” It is heartbreaking to watch something that is attempting to lower the tragedy and intensity of euthanasia. I sobbed. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Eames A The main character Will is an overall terrible person. Despite being wealthy he can't find any meaning in his life outside seeking thrills and being a jerk. Instead of using his disability to contribute something to society he decides life isn't worth it. Clark of course is a much better person, so they aren't well matched from the beginning. She is a fixer and builder while he is a nihilist from beginning to end. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Karl R Enjoyed the movie with its excellent cast. I recommend watching it has its happy and sad moments. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/13/24 Full Review Shermie L Most horrible 'sad' movie I've ever watched. Saw it recommended to me online and honestly a waste of time. Didn't shed a single tear and the only thing I was thinking the entire time was how offensive this film was. Wouldn't even recommend to my worst enemy. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Vili I I loved it and it made me cry so much and release a lot of emotion built up from the past few years during which I’ve been struggling with movement restriction and disability myself. As no one around me has been able to understand me or my feelings given my situation, I keep searching for something out there, something to connect to, relate to and to understand at least a little bit. I loved Clark as by heart I am like her. And a little bit like Will as well. Thank you to the actors and cast who made this movie based on the book by Jojo Moyes, which I also loved.
